California Green

Back on the road again, with a load from Tracy California to Los Angeles California. A lot of rain the past 2 weeks and everything is green and the trees are blooming. Another month and all the grass will turn brown for the summer and won't be green again until next year. Such is life in the San Jauquin Valley

Vacation

Home since the 11th, trying to catch up on everything that has gone to hell since the last vacation. I never seem to catch up, and after a week I'm ready to hit the road again

Utah to California

From Green River Utah to Barstow CA on I-70 and I-15. Pretty sandstone formations and canyons in Utah, and The Virgin River canyon in AZ (pictures), Snowing like crazy in Utah, but the roads were drivable. In Nevada between Las Vegas and the California border, are the remains of a large casino called Nevada Landing. Was a great place for trucks to park, but evidently didn't make enough money to stay in business. The whole building was torn down and the parking lot ripped out, with only the sign remaining

Accross Colorado

Did something yesterday I rarely do in the winter and do as little as possible in the summer. I drove I-70, between Denver Colorado and Grand Junction Colorado. Pretty country, but too many long pulls and ridiculous speed limits. Weather is always chancy and subject to get bad at a moments notice. Unless I have a light load, I can't make any time and waste a lot of fuel running this portion of I-70. I usually bypass this highway by running the northern route of I-80 or the southern route of I40.One portion of this highway runs through Eisenhower Tunnel and another through a river canyon, where the east bound and west bound lanes were built on top of each other to save the canyon (Pictures)

Cold and Snowy

Left Kentucky yesterday morning (see Ice damage photo) and spent the night in Cleveland Ohio last night. Sunny when I got there yesterday afternoon and 6" of Lake effect snow on the ground this morning (pictures).Accidents and traffic jams all over the place, and as usual no snowplows. Ohio has to be the worst state for keeping their roads clear. Seems like one pass from a snowplow would eliminate a lot of accidents and keep the traffic moving. Seems that people in Ohio don't know any better, so they don't raise hell over the lack of effort from the State and Cities when it snows.
