On to Mississippi

Drove the last two days across Texas and Louisiana to Gulfport Mississippi tonight along I-10. Must have been a lot of rain the past few days as all the creeks and rivers were close to overflowing their banks in eastern Texas and Louisiana. Lucky I'm down here as they are having blizzard conditions across I-40 and US 74 up north. I-10 has to be the most boring road from El Paso to San Antonio (see rush hour picture)Through Houston Texas this morning, and at the junction of I-45 and I-10 are some statues of Washington, Lincoln, Sam Houston and I think Stephen Austin (see picture)They are basically under the overpass and in a what appears to be a slum section of Houston.

Desert Blooming

Back on the road again and headed to Lakeland Florida and Atlanta Georgia from Compton California. That time of the year when everything is green and the flowers are blooming in the Desert. The Monarch Butterflies are traveling up from Mexico and I know of a few hundred that won't finish their trip as they are plastered all over the truck.

Home Time

Got home this morning after picking up in San Bernadino CA and driving all night to drop the load in Stockton CA. Just haven't been connected lately to keep the blog updated, nor have I seen much of interest to take pictures of.

Headed Back To California

It's been a lousy last 10 days. From Georgia up to Ohio with a grocery load. Sat a day, then a heavy-ass load down to Louisiana. Sat 3 days, then a load to Texas. Said to hell with this time out and headed back home for a break and hopefully a more productive time out after a break. Cell phone works on and off telling me the SIM card is not recognized half the time. ATT blames it on their new 3g network and thinks I should by a new $25 SIM card for the phone I got 4 years ago for free, told ATT "I thought it was time to change networks" Nothing much of intrest to take pictures of lately, or rainy weather making it hard to photograph through the windshield.

Poor Snow Birds

Across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama to Florida today. Best part of I-10,to me,in the country.Always green with alot of trees, water, swamps, and bays. Crossing the Mississippi River at Baton Rouge Louisiana, one sees the tall State Capitol building, built by Huey Long Unusually cold in Florida tonight getting down in the low 20's tonight. Poor Snow Birds come to Florida to get away from the cold of the North and getting it anyway down here.

New Mexico Rest Area

Spent Friday night at a rest area, overlooking the lights of the City of Las Cruces. The Planet Venus and The Moon were very close together that night and in the morning I woke up to a beautiful sunrise with a big statue of a road runner staring me in the face.

Atlanta Georgia, Here I Come

Same load as a few months back, from Compton California,to Lakeland Florida, and finish at Atlanta Georgia. Boring as hell across the deserts of California,Arizona and New Mexico on I-10. Only thing to break the monotony is rock formations in the desert.
